Review: Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

Here we are! The first review... This time we'll take a close look at the Vice 2 palette by Urban Decay.

 Overall impression/description:
A really good quality palette. This palette by Urban Decay contains 20 eyeshadows and a double-ended brush.
The eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and the variety of the colors included is very good.

Price: 48,90 €
Where can I buy it? You can purchase this on http://www.sephora.it/

Should I buy this palette? That depends on you of course :'D. I suggest buying this palette to people who love bright and intense colors, with metallic/shimmer finish. If you're more on the matte or nude style, this probably doesn't suit you.

Swatches:
First row

Smokeout: a metallic black with red undertone
Lovesick: a matte black with silver shimmer
Shellshock: bright metallic silver
Coax: metallic fuscia with gold/silver undertone
X-rated: bright pink with fine white shimmer

 Second row

Prank: matte dark teal base with green sparkles
Madness: metallic bright blue
Strike: metallic yellow-gold
Stash: metallic olive-gold
Poison: very dark green (almost black) matte base with silver sparkles

Third row

Radar: metallic brown with a gold undertone
Damaged: metallic forest green
Voodoo: metallic dark purple
Betrayal: metallic purple
Derailed: metallic dark brown-grey

Fourth row

Ambush: metallic brown-copper
Rewind: matte cool brown

What I think of it:
Like all things, there are pros and cons in this palette.

Love:

  1. The packaging. It's a plastic case, solid, it opens easily with a button and it doesn't open when it should not. There's a HUGE mirror and the style is very fashionable.
  2. The range of colors. I think this palette would be perfect for a color-lover like me! There's a nice variety of cool tones and warm tones, and some nudes as well, some colors are common, others are quite unique.
  3. The textures. All the eyeshadows are of amazing quality, expecially the metallic ones, are ultra pigmented and they blend really well.
  4. Shimmer is discreet. Yeah, I'm that kind of person that really HATES glitters all over the face that are big and doesn't stay in place. This fortunately doesn't happen with these eyeshadows.
  5. They stay all day without fading.
  6. The brush is quite useful, and that's surprising for a palette of all kind (LOL).
:( :
  1. Some colors are not what I expected them to be. I'm talking in detail of Prank and Poison. Prank was the biggest (and disappointing!) surprise: this was the very first color I noticed from the palette, a very dark and sparkly teal/green. I thought: "Omg, it's awsome!" but when I swatched that unfortunately I was disappointed because it turned out so dark that seemed blue to me, the sparkle isn't very present, the pigmentation is not as good as all the other eyeshadows (not even the matte ones...) and it's more difficult to blend. The other one, Poison, was supposed to be a very dark green with sparkles, but again it's too dark, it's almost black.
  2. Few matte finishes. Of 20 eyeshadows only 2 are completely matte.
  3. It's not a complete palette. That means I cannot create a complete look using this palette only, mainly because are missing some matte and nude shadows to blend the bright colors.
  4. Matte eyeshadow are a bit dusty. NOTE: it's not a problem for me but might be for someone. In my opinion they are very good matte eyeshadows, they are silky and nicely pigmented, but you can get some dusty effect.
